Chapter 20
27Now some of the Sadducees (who maintain that there is no resurrection) came to Him, 28and they questioned Him, saying, 'Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies, leaving a wife, and he is childless, that his brother is to marry the wife and raise up children for his brother. 29So then, there were seven brothers; and the first took a wife and died childless; 30and the second 31and the third married her; and in the same way all seven died, leaving no children.King James Version

27Then Jesus was approached by some Sadducees — religious leaders who say there is no resurrection from the dead. 28They posed this question: 'Teacher, Moses gave us a law that if a man dies, leaving a wife but no children, his brother should marry the widow and have a child who will carry on the brother’s name. 29Well, suppose there were seven brothers. The oldest one married and then died without children. 30So the second brother married the widow, but he also died. 31Then the third brother married her.
