Luke 20:35-42
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 20
35
but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage;
36
for they cannot even die anymore, for they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
37
But
as for
the fact that the dead are raised, even Moses revealed
this
in the
passage about the burning
bush, where he calls the Lord THE
God
OF ABRAHAM, THE
God
OF ISAAC, AND THE
God
OF JACOB.
38
Now He is not the God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to Him.'
39
Some of the scribes answered and said, 'Teacher, You have spoken well.'
40
For they did not have the courage to question Him any longer about anything.
41
But He said to them, 'How
is it that
they say the Christ is David’s son?

King James Version
Chapter 20
35
But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36
Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
37
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
38
For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
39
Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.
40
And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.
41
And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?
42
And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The
Lord
said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 20
35
But those who are counted worthy to take part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.
36
For they can no longer die, because they are like angels and are children of God, since they are children of the resurrection.
37
Moses even indicated in the passage about the burning bush that the dead are raised, where he calls the Lord
the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.
38
He is not the God of the dead but of the living, because all are living to him."
39
Some of the scribes answered, "Teacher, you have spoken well."
40
And they no longer dared to ask him anything.
41
Then he said to them, "How can they say that the Christ is the son of David?

New Living Translation
Chapter 20
35
But in the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage.
36
And they will never die again. In this respect they will be like angels. They are children of God and children of the resurrection.
37
But now, as to whether the dead will be raised — even Moses proved this when he wrote about the burning bush. Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, he referred to the Lord as ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’
38
So he is the God of the living, not the dead, for they are all alive to him.'
39
Well said, Teacher!' remarked some of the teachers of religious law who were standing there.
40
And then no one dared to ask him any more questions.
41
Then Jesus presented them with a question. 'Why is it,' he asked, 'that the Messiah is said to be the son of David?
