Chapter 1

66All who heard them kept them in mind, saying, 'What then will this child turn out to be?' For indeed the hand of the Lord was with him.
67And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying:
68'Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people, 69And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David— 70Just as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient times— 71 Salvation from our enemies, And from the hand of all who hate us; 72To show mercy to our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant, 73 The oath which He swore to our father Abraham, 74To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, Would serve Him without fear, 75In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.

67And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, 68Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, 69And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; 70As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: 71That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; 72To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; 73The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, 74That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, 75In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

67Then his father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit and gave this prophecy:
68'Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people. 69He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David, 70just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago. 71Now we will be saved from our enemies and from all who hate us. 72He has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred covenant — 73the covenant he swore with an oath to our ancestor Abraham. 74We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, 75in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.
