Chapter 19

19And he said to him also, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ 20And then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I kept tucked away in a handkerchief; 21for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding man; you take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22He *said to him, ‘ From your own lips I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am a demanding man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow? 23And so why did you not put my money in the bank, and when I came back, I would have collected it with interest?’

19And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. 20And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: 21For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. 22And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: 23Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

Chapter 19

19"So he said to him, ‘You will be over five towns.’
20"And another came and said, ‘Master, here is your mina. I have kept it safe in a cloth 21because I was afraid of you since you’re a harsh man: you collect what you didn’t deposit and reap what you didn’t sow.’
22"He told him, ‘I will condemn you by what you have said, you evil servant! If you knew I was a harsh man, collecting what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow, 23why, then, didn’t you put my money in the bank? And when I returned, I would have collected it with interest.’

Chapter 19

19‘Well done!’ the king said. ‘You will be governor over five cities.’
20But the third servant brought back only the original amount of money and said, ‘Master, I hid your money and kept it safe. 21I was afraid because you are a hard man to deal with, taking what isn’t yours and harvesting crops you didn’t plant.’
22‘You wicked servant!’ the king roared. ‘Your own words condemn you. If you knew that I’m a hard man who takes what isn’t mine and harvests crops I didn’t plant, 23why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’

You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow? 23Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?’
