Luke 19:15-27
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 19
15
When he returned after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be summoned to him so that he would learn how much they had made by the business they had done.
16
The first
slave
appeared, saying, ‘ Master, your mina has made ten minas more.’
17
And he said to him, ‘Well done, good slave; since you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to have authority over ten cities.’
18
The second one came, saying, ‘Your mina, master, has made five minas.’
19
And he said to him also, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’
20
And
then
another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I kept tucked away in a handkerchief;
21
for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding man; you take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.’
22
He *said to him, ‘ From your own lips I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am a demanding man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow?
23
And
so
why did you not put my money in the bank, and when I came
back,
I would have collected it with interest?’
24
And
then
he said to the
other slaves
who were present, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’
25
And they said to him, ‘Master, he
already
has ten minas.’
26
‘I tell you that to everyone who has,
more
shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.
27
But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them, bring
them
here and slaughter them in my presence.’?'
King James Version
Chapter 19
15
And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
16
Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
17
And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
18
And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19
And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
20
And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
21
For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
22
And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
23
Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
24
And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
25
And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
26
For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
27
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Chapter 19
15
"At his return, having received the authority to be king, he summoned those servants he had given the money to, so that he could find out how much they had made in business.
16
The first came forward and said, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten more minas.’
17
"‘Well done, good servant!’ he told him. ‘Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, have authority over ten towns.’
18
"The second came and said, ‘Master, your mina has made five minas.’
19
"So he said to him, ‘You will be over five towns.’
20
"And another came and said, ‘Master, here is your mina. I have kept it safe in a cloth
21
because I was afraid of you since you’re a harsh man: you collect what you didn’t deposit and reap what you didn’t sow.’
22
"He told him, ‘I will condemn you by what you have said, you evil servant! If you knew I was a harsh man, collecting what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow,
23
why, then, didn’t you put my money in the bank? And when I returned, I would have collected it with interest.’
24
So he said to those standing there, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’
25
"But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’
26
"‘I tell you, that to everyone who has, more will be given; and from the one who does not have, even what he does have will be taken away.
27
But bring here these enemies of mine, who did not want me to rule over them, and slaughter them in my presence.’"
New Living Translation
Chapter 19
15
After he was crowned king, he returned and called in the servants to whom he had given the money. He wanted to find out what their profits were.
16
The first servant reported, ‘Master, I invested your money and made ten times the original amount!’
17
‘Well done!’ the king exclaimed. ‘You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward.’
18
The next servant reported, ‘Master, I invested your money and made five times the original amount.’
19
‘Well done!’ the king said. ‘You will be governor over five cities.’
20
But the third servant brought back only the original amount of money and said, ‘Master, I hid your money and kept it safe.
21
I was afraid because you are a hard man to deal with, taking what isn’t yours and harvesting crops you didn’t plant.’
22
‘You wicked servant!’ the king roared. ‘Your own words condemn you. If you knew that I’m a hard man who takes what isn’t mine and harvests crops I didn’t plant,
23
why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’
24
Then, turning to the others standing nearby, the king ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one who has ten pounds.’
25
‘But, master,’ they said, ‘he already has ten pounds!’
26
‘Yes,’ the king replied, ‘and to those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.
27
And as for these enemies of mine who didn’t want me to be their king — bring them in and execute them right here in front of me.’'

Chapter 19
15
When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business.
16
The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten minas more.’
17
And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
18
And the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made five minas.’
19
And he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’
20
Then another came, saying, ‘Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief;
21
for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’
22
He said to him, ‘I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow?

Chapter 19
15
"He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.
16
"The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned ten more.’
17
" ‘Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’
18
"The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned five more.’
19
"His master answered, ‘You take charge of five cities.’
20
"Then another servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth.
21
I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.’
22
"His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?
