Luke 12:47-53

Chapter 12
47And that slave who knew his master’s will and did not get ready or act in accordance with his will, will receive many blows, 48but the one who did not know it, and committed acts deserving of a beating, will receive only a few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.
49I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!
50But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!
51Do you think that I came to provide peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division;
52for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.
53They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.'

47And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. 49I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? 50But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! 51Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be expected.
49"I came to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already set ablaze!
50But I have a baptism to undergo, and how it consumes me until it is finished!
51Do you think that I came here to bring peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.
52From now on, five in one household will be divided: three against two, and two against three.

47And a servant who knows what the master wants, but isn’t prepared and doesn’t carry out those instructions, will be severely punished. 48But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
49I have come to set the world on fire, and I wish it were already burning!
50I have a terrible baptism of suffering ahead of me, and I am under a heavy burden until it is accomplished.
51Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!
52From now on families will be split apart, three in favor of me, and two against — or two in favor and three against.
