Luke 12:20-23
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 12
20
But God said to him, ‘You fool! This
very
night your soul is demanded of you; and
as for all
that you have prepared, who will own
it now?
’
21
Such is the one who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich in relation to God.'
22
And He said to His disciples, 'For this reason I tell you, do not worry about
your
life,
as to
what you are to eat; nor for your body,
as to
what you are to wear.
23
For life is more than food, and the body
is more
than clothing.
King James Version
Chapter 12
20
But God said unto him,
Thou
fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21
So
is
he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
22
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23
The life is more than meat, and the body
is more
than raiment.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 12
20
"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared--whose will they be? '
21
"That's how it is with the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God."
22
Then he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, don't worry about your life, what you will eat; or about the body, what you will wear.
23
For life is more than food and the body more than clothing.
New Living Translation
Chapter 12
20
But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’
21
Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.'
22
Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, 'That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life — whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear.
23
For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.
English Standard Version
Chapter 12
20

So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
22
And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on.
23
For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
New International Version

Then Jesus said to his disciples: 'Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.
23
For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
