Chapter 12
15And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 16And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.Christian Standard Bible
16Then he told them a parable: "A rich man's land was very productive.
17He thought to himself, 'What should I do, since I don't have anywhere to store my crops?
18I will do this,' he said. 'I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones and store all my grain and my goods there.
19Then I'll say to myself, "You have many goods stored up for many years. Take it easy; eat, drink, and enjoy yourself." '
New Living Translation
16Then he told them a story: 'A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops.
17He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’
18Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods.
19And I’ll sit back and say to myself, 'My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!'’
