John 9:19-22
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 9
19and they questioned them, saying, 'Is this your son, who you say was born blind? Then how does he now see?' 20His parents then answered and said, 'We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; 21but how he now sees, we do not know; or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him; he is of age, he will speak for himself.' 22His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already reached the decision that if anyone confessed Him to be Christ, he was to be excommunicated from the synagogue.King James Version
Chapter 9
19And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? 20His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: 21But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. 22These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 9
19They asked them, "Is this your son, the one you say was born blind? How then does he now see? "
20"We know this is our son and that he was born blind," his parents answered.
21"But we don't know how he now sees, and we don't know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he's of age. He will speak for himself."
22His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed him as the Messiah, he would be banned from the synagogue.
New Living Translation
20His parents replied, 'We know this is our son and that he was born blind,
21but we don’t know how he can see or who healed him. Ask him. He is old enough to speak for himself.'
22His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had announced that anyone saying Jesus was the Messiah would be expelled from the synagogue.

20We know he is our son,' the parents answered, 'and we know he was born blind.
21But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don't know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.'

New King James Version

21but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”
22His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
