John 9:22-25
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 9
22
His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already reached the decision that if anyone confessed Him to be Christ, he was to be excommunicated from the synagogue.
23
It was
for this reason
that
his parents said, 'He is of age; ask him.'
24
So for a second time they summoned the man who had been blind, and said to him, 'Give glory to God; we know that this man is a sinner.'
25
He then answered, 'Whether He is a sinner, I do not know; one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.'
King James Version
Chapter 9
22
These
words
spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23
Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24
Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25
He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner
or no,
I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 9
22
His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed him as the Messiah, he would be banned from the synagogue.
23
This is why his parents said, "He’s of age; ask him."
24
So a second time they summoned the man who had been blind and told him, "Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner."
25
He answered, "Whether or not he’s a sinner, I don’t know. One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I can see!"
New Living Translation
Chapter 9
22
His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had announced that anyone saying Jesus was the Messiah would be expelled from the synagogue.
23
That’s why they said, 'He is old enough. Ask him.'
24
So for the second time they called in the man who had been blind and told him, 'God should get the glory for this, because we know this man Jesus is a sinner.'
25
I don’t know whether he is a sinner,' the man replied. 'But I know this: I was blind, and now I can see!'
English Standard Version
Chapter 9
22
(His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.)
23
Therefore his parents said, "He is of age; ask him."
24
So for the second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, "Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner."
25
He answered, "Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see."
New International Version
Chapter 9
22
His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue.
23
That was why his parents said, "He is of age; ask him."
24
A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. "Give glory to God by telling the truth," they said. "We know this man is a sinner."
25
He replied, "Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!"
New King James Version
Chapter 9
22
His parents said these
things
because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed
that
He
was
Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
23
Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
24
So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give God the glory! We know that this Man is a sinner.”
25
He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner
or not
I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
