Chapter 5

8Jesus *said to him, 'Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.'
9Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk. Now it was a Sabbath on that day. 10So the Jews were saying to the man who was cured, 'It is a Sabbath, and it is not permissible for you to carry your pallet.'

9Instantly the man got well, picked up his mat, and started to walk. Now that day was the Sabbath, 10and so the Jews said to the man who had been healed, "This is the Sabbath. The law prohibits you from picking up your mat."

9Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, 10so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, 'You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!'
