New American Standard Bible
King James Version
Chapter 5
16And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. 17But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. 18Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.Christian Standard Bible
New Living Translation
Chapter 5
16So the Jewish leaders began harassing Jesus for breaking the Sabbath rules. 17But Jesus replied, 'My Father is always working, and so am I.' 18So the Jewish leaders tried all the harder to find a way to kill him. For he not only broke the Sabbath, he called God his Father, thereby making himself equal with God.English Standard Version
