John 12:14-22
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 12
14Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: 15DO NOT FEAR, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY’S COLT.' 16These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things for Him. 17So the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify about Him. 18For this reason also the people went to meet Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign. 19So the Pharisees said to one another, 'You see that you are not accomplishing anything; look, the world has gone after Him!'
20Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the feast;
21these people then came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and were making a request of him, saying, 'Sir, we wish to see Jesus.'
22Philip *came and *told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip *came and *told Jesus.
King James Version
Chapter 12
14And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, 15Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt. 16These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him. 17The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record. 18For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle. 19The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.Christian Standard Bible
17Meanwhile, the crowd, which had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify.
18This is also why the crowd met him, because they heard he had done this sign.
19Then the Pharisees said to one another, "You see? You've accomplished nothing. Look, the world has gone after him! "
New Living Translation
17Many in the crowd had seen Jesus call Lazarus from the tomb, raising him from the dead, and they were telling others about it.
18That was the reason so many went out to meet him — because they had heard about this miraculous sign.
19Then the Pharisees said to each other, 'There’s nothing we can do. Look, everyone has gone after him!'
English Standard Version
15“Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!”
16His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.
17The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness.
18The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.
19So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.”
New International Version
17Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word.
18Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him.
19So the Pharisees said to one another, 'See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!'
New King James Version
17Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness.
18For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign.
19The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!”
