John 11:36-42

Chapter 11

36So the Jews were saying, 'See how He loved him!' 37But some of them said, 'Could this man, who opened the eyes of the man who was blind, not have also kept this man from dying?'
38So Jesus, again being deeply moved within, *came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. 39Jesus *said, 'Remove the stone.' Martha, the sister of the deceased, *said to Him, 'Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days.' 40Jesus *said to her, 'Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?' 41So they removed the stone. And Jesus raised His eyes, and said, 'Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42But I knew that You always hear Me; nevertheless, because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me.'

36Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! 37And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. 40Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God
41Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

38Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
39"Remove the stone," Jesus said. Martha, the dead man’s sister, told him, "Lord, there is already a stench because he has been dead four days."
40Jesus said to her, "Didn’t I tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?"
41So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised his eyes and said, "Father, I thank you that you heard me. 42I know that you always hear me, but because of the crowd standing here I said this, so that they may believe you sent me."

Chapter 11

36The people who were standing nearby said, 'See how much he loved him!' 37But some said, 'This man healed a blind man. Couldn’t he have kept Lazarus from dying?'
38Jesus was still angry as he arrived at the tomb, a cave with a stone rolled across its entrance.
39Roll the stone aside,' Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, 'Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.'
40Jesus responded, 'Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?' 41So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, 'Father, thank you for hearing me. 42You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.'
