Chapter 11
15and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let’s go to him.' 16Therefore Thomas, who was called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, 'Let’s also go, so that we may die with Him!'
17So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
18Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia away;
19and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them about their brother.
20So then Martha, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him, but Mary stayed in the house.

17Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
19And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

18Bethany was only a few miles down the road from Jerusalem,
19and many of the people had come to console Martha and Mary in their loss.
20When Martha got word that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him. But Mary stayed in the house.
