So Jesus then said to them plainly, 'Lazarus died,
15
and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let’s go to him.'
16
Therefore Thomas, who was called Didymus, said to
his
fellow disciples, 'Let’s also go, so that we may die with Him!'
17
So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
18
Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia away;

And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

Bethany was near Jerusalem (less than two miles away).

When Jesus arrived at Bethany, he was told that Lazarus had already been in his grave for four days.
