Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about actual sleep.
14
So Jesus then said to them plainly, 'Lazarus died,
15
and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let’s go to him.'

Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

Jesus, however, was speaking about his death, but they thought he was speaking about natural sleep.

So Jesus then told them plainly, "Lazarus has died.

I’m glad for you that I wasn’t there so that you may believe. But let’s go to him."

They thought Jesus meant Lazarus was simply sleeping, but Jesus meant Lazarus had died.
14
So he told them plainly, 'Lazarus is dead.
15
And for your sakes, I’m glad I wasn’t there, for now you will really believe. Come, let’s go see him.'
