Isaiah 56:1-8
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 56
1
This is what the
Lord
says:
'Guard justice and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come
And My righteousness to be revealed.
2
Blessed is a man who does this,
And a son of man who takes hold of it;
Who keeps from profaning the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.'
3
Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the
Lord
say,
'The
Lord
will certainly separate me from His people.'
Nor let the eunuch say, 'Behold, I am a dry tree.'
4
For this is what the
Lord
says:
'To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths,
And choose what pleases Me,
And hold firmly to My covenant,
5
To them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial,
And a name better than that of sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name which will not be eliminated.
6
'Also the foreigners who join themselves to the
Lord
,
To attend to His service and to love the name of the
Lord
,
To be His servants, every one who keeps the Sabbath so as not to profane it,
And holds firmly to My covenant;
7
Even those I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar;
For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.'
8
The Lord
God
, who gathers the dispersed of Israel, declares,
'I will yet gather
others
to them, to those
already
gathered.'
King James Version
Chapter 56
1
Thus saith the
Lord
, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
2
Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
3
Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the
Lord
, speak, saying, The
Lord
hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
4
For thus saith the
Lord
unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
5
Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
6
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the
Lord
, to serve him, and to love the name of the
Lord
, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
7
Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
8
The Lord
God
which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 56
1
This is what the
Lord
says:
Preserve justice and do what is right,
for my salvation is coming soon,
and my righteousness will be revealed.
2
Happy is the person who does this,
the son of man who holds it fast,
who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it,
and keeps his hand from doing any evil.
3
No foreigner who has joined himself to the
Lord
should say,
"The
Lord
will exclude me from his people,"
and the eunuch should not say,
"Look, I am a dried-up tree."
4
For the
Lord
says this:
"For the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
and choose what pleases me,
and hold firmly to my covenant,
5
I will give them, in my house and within my walls,
a memorial and a name
better than sons and daughters.
I will give each of them an everlasting name
that will never be cut off.
6
As for the foreigners who join themselves to the
Lord
to minister to him, to love the name of the
Lord
,
and to become his servants—
all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it
and who hold firmly to my covenant—
7
I will bring them to my holy mountain
and let them rejoice in my house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and sacrifices
will be acceptable on my altar,
for my house will be called a house of prayer
for all nations."
8
This is the declaration of the Lord
God
, who gathers the dispersed of Israel: "I will gather to them still others
besides those already gathered."
New Living Translation
Chapter 56
1
This is what the
Lord
says:
'Be just and fair to all.
Do what is right and good,
for I am coming soon to rescue you
and to display my righteousness among you.
2
Blessed are all those
who are careful to do this.
Blessed are those who honor my Sabbath days of rest
and keep themselves from doing wrong.
3
'Don’t let foreigners who commit themselves to the
Lord
say,
‘The
Lord
will never let me be part of his people.’
And don’t let the eunuchs say,
‘I’m a dried-up tree with no children and no future.’
4
For this is what the
Lord
says:
I will bless those eunuchs
who keep my Sabbath days holy
and who choose to do what pleases me
and commit their lives to me.
5
I will give them — within the walls of my house —
a memorial and a name
far greater than sons and daughters could give.
For the name I give them is an everlasting one.
It will never disappear!
6
'I will also bless the foreigners who commit themselves to the
Lord
,
who serve him and love his name,
who worship him and do not desecrate the Sabbath day of rest,
and who hold fast to my covenant.
7
I will bring them to my holy mountain of Jerusalem
and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer.
I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices,
because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations.
8
For the Sovereign
Lord
,
who brings back the outcasts of Israel, says:
I will bring others, too,
besides my people Israel.'
English Standard Version
Chapter 56
1
Thus says the
Lord
:
"Keep justice, and do righteousness,
for soon my salvation will come,

who keeps the Sabbath, not profaning it,
and keeps his hand from doing any evil."
3
Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the
Lord
say,
"The
Lord
will surely separate me from his people";
and let not the eunuch say,
"Behold, I am a dry tree."
4
For thus says the
Lord
:
"To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
who choose the things that please me

5
I will give in my house and within my walls
a monument and a name
better than sons and daughters;
