Isaiah 52:1-4
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 52
1
Awake, awake,
Clothe yourself in your strength, Zion;
Clothe yourself with your beautiful garments,
Jerusalem, the holy city;
For the uncircumcised and the unclean
Will no longer come into you.
2
Shake yourself from the dust, rise up,
Captive Jerusalem;
Release yourself from the chains around your neck,
Captive daughter of Zion.
3
For this is what the
Lord
says: 'You were sold for nothing, and you will be redeemed without money.'
4
For this is what the Lord
God
says: 'My people went down to Egypt first to reside there; then the Assyrian oppressed them without reason.
King James Version
Chapter 52
1
Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
2
Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
3
For thus saith the
Lord
, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.
4
For thus saith the Lord
God
, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 52
1
"Wake up, wake up;
put on your strength, Zion!
Put on your beautiful garments,
Jerusalem, the Holy City!
For the uncircumcised and the unclean
will no longer enter you.
2
Stand up, shake the dust off yourself!
Take your seat, Jerusalem.
Remove the bonds from your neck,
captive Daughter Zion."
3
For this is what the
Lord
says:
"You were sold for nothing,
and you will be redeemed without silver."
4
For this is what the Lord
God
says:
"At first my people went down to Egypt to reside there,
then Assyria oppressed them without cause.
New Living Translation
Chapter 52
1
Wake up, wake up, O Zion!
Clothe yourself with strength.
Put on your beautiful clothes, O holy city of Jerusalem,
for unclean and godless people will enter your gates no longer.
2
Rise from the dust, O Jerusalem.
Sit in a place of honor.
Remove the chains of slavery from your neck,
O captive daughter of Zion.
3
For this is what the
Lord
says:
'When I sold you into exile,
I received no payment.
Now I can redeem you
without having to pay for you.'
4
This is what the Sovereign
Lord
says: 'Long ago my people chose to live in Egypt. Now they are oppressed by Assyria.

rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
Daughter Zion, now a captive.
