Genesis 19:5-9
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 19
5
and they called to Lot and said to him, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.'
6
But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him,
7
and said, 'Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly.
8
Now look, I have two daughters who have not had relations with
any
man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like; only do not do anything to these men, because they have come under the shelter of my roof.'
9
But they said, 'Get out of the way!' They also said, 'This one came in as a foreigner, and already he is acting like a judge; now we will treat you worse than them!' So they pressed hard against Lot and moved forward to break the door.
King James Version
Chapter 19
5
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
6
And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7
And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8
Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9
And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 19
5
They called out to Lot and said, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Send them out to us so we can have sex with them!"
6
Lot went out to them at the entrance and shut the door behind him.
7
He said, "Don’t do this evil, my brothers.
8
Look, I’ve got two daughters who haven’t been intimate with a man. I’ll bring them out to you, and you can do whatever you want to them. However, don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the protection of my roof."
9
"Get out of the way!" they said, adding, "This one came here as an alien, but he’s acting like a judge! Now we’ll do more harm to you than to them." They put pressure on Lot and came up to break down the door.
New Living Translation
Chapter 19
5
They shouted to Lot, 'Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!'
6
So Lot stepped outside to talk to them, shutting the door behind him.
7
Please, my brothers,' he begged, 'don’t do such a wicked thing.
8
Look, I have two virgin daughters. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do with them as you wish. But please, leave these men alone, for they are my guests and are under my protection.'
9
Stand back!' they shouted. 'This fellow came to town as an outsider, and now he’s acting like our judge! We’ll treat you far worse than those other men!' And they lunged toward Lot to break down the door.

Chapter 19
5
They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
6
Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7
and said, "No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing.
8
Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof."
9
"Get out of our way," they replied. "This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them." They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.
New King James Version
Chapter 19
5
And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them
carnally.
”
6
So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him,
7
and said, “Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly!
8
See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof.”
9
And they said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one came in to stay
here,
and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.
