Matthew 10:3-19
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 10
3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, the one who also betrayed Him.
5These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them, saying, 'Do not go on a road to Gentiles, and do not enter a city of Samaritans;
6but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’
8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.
9Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts,
10or a bag for your journey, or even two tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for the worker is deserving of his support.
11And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay at his house until you leave that city.
12As you enter the house, give it your greeting.
13If the house is worthy, see that your blessing of peace comes upon it. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace.
14And whoever does not receive you nor listen to your words, as you leave that house or city, shake the dust off your feet.
15Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment, than for that city.
16Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be as wary as serpents, and as innocent as doves.
17But be on guard against people, for they will hand you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues;
18and you will even be brought before governors and kings on My account, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
19But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given you in that hour.

Chapter 10
3Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
5These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
9Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
10Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
11And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.
12And when ye come into an house, salute it.
13And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
15Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
16Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
18And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
19But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

Chapter 10
3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
5Jesus sent out these twelve after giving them instructions: "Don’t take the road that leads to the Gentiles, and don’t enter any Samaritan town.
6Instead, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7As you go, proclaim: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’
8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you received, freely give.
9Don’t acquire gold, silver, or copper for your money-belts.
10Don’t take a traveling bag for the road, or an extra shirt, sandals, or a staff, for the worker is worthy of his food.
11When you enter any town or village, find out who is worthy, and stay there until you leave.
12Greet a household when you enter it,
13and if the household is worthy, let your peace be on it; but if it is unworthy, let your peace return to you.
14If anyone does not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that house or town.
15Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.
16"Look, I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as serpents and as innocent as doves.
17Beware of them, because they will hand you over to local courts and flog you in their synagogues.
18You will even be brought before governors and kings because of me, to bear witness to them and to the Gentiles.
19But when they hand you over, don’t worry about how or what you are to speak. For you will be given what to say at that hour,

Chapter 10
3Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew (the tax collector), James (son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, 4Simon (the zealot ), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him).
5Jesus sent out the twelve apostles with these instructions: 'Don’t go to the Gentiles or the Samaritans,
6but only to the people of Israel — God’s lost sheep.
7Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!
9Don’t take any money in your money belts — no gold, silver, or even copper coins.
10Don’t carry a traveler’s bag with a change of clothes and sandals or even a walking stick. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve to be fed.
11Whenever you enter a city or village, search for a worthy person and stay in his home until you leave town.
12When you enter the home, give it your blessing.
13If it turns out to be a worthy home, let your blessing stand; if it is not, take back the blessing.
14If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave.
15I tell you the truth, the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah will be better off than such a town on the judgment day.
16Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.
17But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and will be flogged with whips in the synagogues.
18You will stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell the rulers and other unbelievers about me.
19When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time.
