Matthew 10:16-23
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 10
16Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be as wary as serpents, and as innocent as doves. 17But be on guard against people, for they will hand you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues; 18and you will even be brought before governors and kings on My account, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given you in that hour. 20For it is not you who are speaking, but it is the Spirit of your Father who is speaking in you.King James Version
Chapter 10
16Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. 21And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 23But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 10
16"Look, I'm sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as serpents and as innocent as doves. 17Beware of them, because they will hand you over to local courts and flog you in their synagogues. 18You will even be brought before governors and kings because of me, to bear witness to them and to the Gentiles. 19But when they hand you over, don't worry about how or what you are to speak. For you will be given what to say at that hour, 20because it isn't you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father is speaking through you.
21"Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
22You will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
23When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. For truly I tell you, you will not have gone through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
New Living Translation
Chapter 10
16Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves. 17But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and will be flogged with whips in the synagogues. 18You will stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell the rulers and other unbelievers about me. 19When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time. 20For it is not you who will be speaking — it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21A brother will betray his brother to death, a father will betray his own child, and children will rebel against their parents and cause them to be killed.
22And all nations will hate you because you are my followers. But everyone who endures to the end will be saved.
23When you are persecuted in one town, flee to the next. I tell you the truth, the Son of Man will return before you have reached all the towns of Israel.
