As for you, let these words sink into your ears: for the Son of Man is going to be handed over to men.'

But they did not understand this statement, and it was concealed from them so that they would not comprehend it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this statement.
46
Now an argument started among them as to which of them might be the greatest.

Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.

But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

But they did not understand this statement; it was concealed from them so that they could not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

An argument started among them about who was the greatest of them.

Listen to me and remember what I say. The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies.'

But they didn’t know what he meant. Its significance was hidden from them, so they couldn’t understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

Then his disciples began arguing about which of them was the greatest.
