Luke 7:2-7
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 7
2
Now a centurion’s slave, who was highly regarded by him, was sick and about to die.
3
When he heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to Him, asking Him to come and save the life of his slave.
4
When they came to Jesus, they strongly urged Him, saying, 'He is worthy for You to grant this to him;
5
for he loves our nation, and it was he who built us our synagogue.'
6
Now Jesus
started
on His way with them; but already, when He was not
yet
far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him, 'Lord, do not trouble Yourself
further,
for I am not worthy for You to enter under my roof;
7
for that reason I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You; but
just
say the word, and my servant shall be healed.
King James Version
Chapter 7
2
And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3
And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4
And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5
For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6
Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7
Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

because he loves our nation and has built us a synagogue."
6
Jesus went with them, and when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell him, "Lord, don’t trouble yourself, since I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.
7
That is why I didn’t even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.

Chapter 7
2
At that time the highly valued slave of a Roman officer was sick and near death.
3
When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish elders to ask him to come and heal his slave.
4
So they earnestly begged Jesus to help the man. 'If anyone deserves your help, he does,' they said,
5
for he loves the Jewish people and even built a synagogue for us.'
6
So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say, 'Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor.
7
I am not even worthy to come and meet you. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.
