13And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, 14Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: 15No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. 16I will therefore chastise him, and release him. 17(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.) 18And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:Christian Standard Bible

But in fact, after examining him in your presence, I have found no grounds to charge this man with those things you accuse him of. 15Neither has Herod, because he sent him back to us. Clearly, he has done nothing to deserve death. 16Therefore, I will have him whipped and then release him." 17New Living Translation

13Then Pilate called together the leading priests and other religious leaders, along with the people, 14and he announced his verdict. 'You brought this man to me, accusing him of leading a revolt. I have examined him thoroughly on this point in your presence and find him innocent. 15Herod came to the same conclusion and sent him back to us. Nothing this man has done calls for the death penalty. 16So I will have him flogged, and then I will release him.' 17English Standard Version
