Luke 23:32-38
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 23
32
Now two others, who were criminals, were also being led away to be put to death with Him.
33
And when they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
34
[ But Jesus was saying, 'Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.'] And they cast lots, dividing His garments among themselves.
35
And the people stood by, watching. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, 'He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.'
36
The soldiers also ridiculed Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,
37
and saying, 'If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!'
38
Now there was also an inscription above Him, 'THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.'
King James Version
Chapter 23
32
And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37
And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38
And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 23
32
Two others—criminals —were also led away to be executed with him.
33
When they arrived at the place called The Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals, one on the right and one on the left.
34
Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing." And they divided his clothes and cast lots.
35
The people stood watching, and even the leaders were scoffing: "He saved others; let him save himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!"
36
The soldiers also mocked him. They came offering him sour wine
37
and said, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!"
38
An inscription was above him: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
New Living Translation
Chapter 23
32
Two others, both criminals, were led out to be executed with him.
33
When they came to a place called The Skull, they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified — one on his right and one on his left.
34
Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.' And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
35
The crowd watched and the leaders scoffed. 'He saved others,' they said, 'let him save himself if he is really God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.'
36
The soldiers mocked him, too, by offering him a drink of sour wine.
37
They called out to him, 'If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!'
38
A sign was fastened above him with these words: 'This is the King of the Jews.'
