Luke 21:11-23
New American Standard Bible
12But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors on account of My name.
13It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony.
14So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves;
15for I will provide you eloquence and wisdom which none of your adversaries will be able to oppose or refute.
16But you will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, other relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death,
17and you will be hated by all people because of My name.
18And yet not a hair of your head will perish.
19By your endurance you will gain your lives.
20But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is near.
21Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are inside the city must leave, and those who are in the country must not enter the city;
22because these are days of punishment, so that all things which have been written will be fulfilled.
23Woe to those women who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing babies in those days; for there will be great distress upon the land, and wrath to this people;
King James Version
Chapter 21
11And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. 12But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. 13And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. 16And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 18But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
20And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

Chapter 21
11There will be violent earthquakes, and famines and plagues in various places, and there will be terrifying sights and great signs from heaven. 12But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you. They will hand you over to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. 13This will give you an opportunity to bear witness. 14Therefore make up your minds not to prepare your defense ahead of time, 15for I will give you such words and a wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16You will even be betrayed by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. They will kill some of you. 17You will be hated by everyone because of my name, 18but not a hair of your head will be lost. 19By your endurance, gain your lives.
20"When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that its desolation has come near.
21Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. Those inside the city must leave it, and those who are in the country must not enter it,
22because these are days of vengeance to fulfill all the things that are written.
23Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days, for there will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.
New Living Translation
12But before all this occurs, there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will stand trial before kings and governors because you are my followers.
13But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me.
14So don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you,
15for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!
16Even those closest to you — your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends — will betray you. They will even kill some of you.
17And everyone will hate you because you are my followers.
18But not a hair of your head will perish!
19By standing firm, you will win your souls.
20And when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that the time of its destruction has arrived.
21Then those in Judea must flee to the hills. Those in Jerusalem must get out, and those out in the country should not return to the city.
22For those will be days of God’s vengeance, and the prophetic words of the Scriptures will be fulfilled.
23How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days. For there will be disaster in the land and great anger against this people.
