Chapter 16
10The one who is faithful in a very little thing is also faithful in much; and the one who is unrighteous in a very little thing is also unrighteous in much. 11Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true wealth to you? 12And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own? 13No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.'
14Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were ridiculing Him.
15And He said to them, 'You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of people, but God knows your hearts; because that which is highly esteemed among people is detestable in the sight of God.
16The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John came; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
17But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter of the Law to fail.
19Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, enjoying himself in splendor every day.
20And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores,
21and longing to be fed from the scraps which fell from the rich man’s table; not only that, the dogs also were coming and licking his sores.
22Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s arms; and the rich man also died and was buried.
23And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms.

14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

16The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
17And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
18Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
19There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

17But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter in the law to drop out.
19"There was a rich man who would dress in purple and fine linen, feasting lavishly every day.
20But a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, was lying at his gate.
21He longed to be filled with what fell from the rich man’s table, but instead the dogs would come and lick his sores.
22One day the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.
23And being in torment in Hades, he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off, with Lazarus at his side.

Chapter 16
10If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. 11And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? 12And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?
14The Pharisees, who dearly loved their money, heard all this and scoffed at him.
15Then he said to them, 'You like to appear righteous in public, but God knows your hearts. What this world honors is detestable in the sight of God.
16Until John the Baptist, the law of Moses and the messages of the prophets were your guides. But now the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is eager to get in.
17But that doesn’t mean that the law has lost its force. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the smallest point of God’s law to be overturned.
19Jesus said, 'There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury.
20At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores.
21As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.
