Judges 6:19-25
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 6
19
Then Gideon went in and prepared a young goat and unleavened bread
from
an ephah of flour; he put the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot, and brought
them
out to him under the oak and presented
them.
20
And the angel of God said to him, 'Take the meat and the unleavened bread and lay
them
on this rock, and pour out the broth.' And he did so.
21
Then the angel of the
Lord
put out the end of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; and fire came up from the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. Then the angel of the
Lord
vanished from his sight.
22
When Gideon perceived that he was the angel of the
Lord
, he said, 'Oh, Lord
God
! For I have seen the angel of the
Lord
face to face!'
23
But the
Lord
said to him, 'Peace to you, do not be afraid; you shall not die.'
24
Then Gideon built an altar there to the
Lord
and named it The
Lord
is Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
25
Now on the same night the
Lord
said to him, 'Take your father’s bull and a second bull seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal which belongs to your father, and cut down the Asherah that is beside it;

Chapter 6
19
And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it.
20
And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.
21
Then the angel of the
Lord
put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the
Lord
departed out of his sight.
22
And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the
Lord
, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord
God
! for because I have seen an angel of the
Lord
face to face.
23
And the
Lord
said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.
24
Then Gideon built an altar there unto the
Lord
, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
25
And it came to pass the same night, that the
Lord
said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:

Chapter 6
19
So Gideon went and prepared a young goat and unleavened bread from a half bushel of flour. He placed the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot. He brought them out and offered them to him under the oak.
20
The angel of God said to him, "Take the meat with the unleavened bread, put it on this stone, and pour the broth on it." So he did that.
21
The angel of the
Lord
extended the tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unleavened bread. Fire came up from the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. Then the angel of the
Lord
vanished from his sight.
22
When Gideon realized that he was the angel of the
Lord
, he said, "Oh no, Lord
God
! I have seen the angel of the
Lord
face to face!"
23
But the
Lord
said to him, "Peace to you. Don’t be afraid, for you will not die."
24
So Gideon built an altar to the
Lord
there and called it The
Lord
Is Peace. It is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites today.
25
On that very night the
Lord
said to him, "Take your father’s young bull and a second bull seven years old. Then tear down the altar of Baal that belongs to your father and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.
New Living Translation
Chapter 6
19
Gideon hurried home. He cooked a young goat, and with a basket of flour he baked some bread without yeast. Then, carrying the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot, he brought them out and presented them to the angel, who was under the great tree.
20
The angel of God said to him, 'Place the meat and the unleavened bread on this rock, and pour the broth over it.' And Gideon did as he was told.
21
Then the angel of the
Lord
touched the meat and bread with the tip of the staff in his hand, and fire flamed up from the rock and consumed all he had brought. And the angel of the
Lord
disappeared.
22
When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the
Lord
, he cried out, 'Oh, Sovereign
Lord
, I’m doomed! I have seen the angel of the
Lord
face to face!'
23
It is all right,' the
Lord
replied. 'Do not be afraid. You will not die.'
24
And Gideon built an altar to the
Lord
there and named it Yahweh-Shalom (which means 'the
Lord
is peace'). The altar remains in Ophrah in the land of the clan of Abiezer to this day.
25
That night the
Lord
said to Gideon, 'Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one that is seven years old. Pull down your father’s altar to Baal, and cut down the Asherah pole standing beside it.
