John 4:33-41
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 4
33
So the disciples were saying to one another, 'No one brought Him
anything
to eat, did he?'
34
Jesus *said to them, 'My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work.
35
Do you not say, ‘There are still four months, and
then
comes the harvest’? Behold, I tell you, raise your eyes and observe the fields, that they are white for harvest.
36
Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that the one who sows and the one who reaps may rejoice together.
37
For in this
case
the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’
38
I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have come into their labor.'
39
Now from that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, 'He told me all the things that I have done.'
40
So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.
41
Many more believed because of His word;
King James Version
Chapter 4
33
Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36
And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37
And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38
I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39
And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40
So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41
And many more believed because of his own word;
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 4
33
The disciples said to one another, "Could someone have brought him something to eat?"
34
"My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work," Jesus told them.
35
"Don’t you say, ‘There are still four more months, and then comes the harvest’? Listen to what I’m telling you: Open your eyes and look at the fields, because they are ready for harvest.
36
The reaper is already receiving pay and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that the sower and reaper can rejoice together.
37
For in this case the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’
38
I sent you to reap what you didn’t labor for; others have labored, and you have benefited from their labor."
39
Now many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of what the woman said when she testified, "He told me everything I ever did."
40
So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.
41
Many more believed because of what he said.
New Living Translation
Chapter 4
33
Did someone bring him food while we were gone?' the disciples asked each other.
34
Then Jesus explained: 'My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.
35
You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest.
36
The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!
37
You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true.
38
I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.'
39
Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, 'He told me everything I ever did!'
40
When they came out to see him, they begged him to stay in their village. So he stayed for two days,
41
long enough for many more to hear his message and believe.

Chapter 4
33
So the disciples said to one another, "Has anyone brought him something to eat?"
34
Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
35
Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.
36
Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together.
37
For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’
38
I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor."
39
Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman 's testimony, "He told me all that I ever did."
40
So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.
41
And many more believed because of his word.
New International Version
Chapter 4
33
Then his disciples said to each other, "Could someone have brought him food?"
34
"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
35
Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
36
Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.
37
Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true.
38
I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."
39
Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, "He told me everything I ever did."
40
So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days.
41
And because of his words many more became believers.
