Chapter 4

13Jesus answered and said to her, 'Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again; 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.'
15The woman *said to Him, 'Sir, give me this water so that I will not be thirsty, nor come all the way here to draw water.' 16He *said to her, 'Go, call your husband and come here.' 17The woman answered and said to Him, 'I have no husband.' Jesus *said to her, 'You have correctly said, ‘I have no husband’; 18for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this which you have said is true.'

13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

15"Sir," the woman said to him, "give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and come here to draw water."
16"Go call your husband," he told her, "and come back here."
17"I don’t have a husband," she answered. "You have correctly said, ‘I don’t have a husband,’" Jesus said. 18"For you’ve had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true."

Chapter 4

13Jesus replied, 'Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.'
15Please, sir,' the woman said, 'give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.'
16Go and get your husband,' Jesus told her.
17I don’t have a husband,' the woman replied. Jesus said, 'You’re right! You don’t have a husband — 18for you have had five husbands, and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now. You certainly spoke the truth!'
