Genesis 21:30-33
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 21
30
He said, 'You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand so that it may be a witness for me, that I dug this well.'
31
Therefore he called that place Beersheba, because there the two of them took an oath.
32
So they made a covenant at Beersheba; and Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, got up and returned to the land of the Philistines.
33
Abraham
planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the
Lord
, the Everlasting God.
King James Version
Chapter 21
30
And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.
31
Wherefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they sware both of them.
32
Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.
33
And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the
Lord
, the everlasting God.

He replied, "You are to accept the seven ewe lambs from me so that this act will serve as my witness that I dug this well."
31
Therefore that place was called Beer-sheba because it was there that the two of them swore an oath.
32
After they had made a covenant at Beer-sheba, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, left and returned to the land of the Philistines.
33
Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and there he called on the name of the
Lord
, the Everlasting God.

Then he named the place Beersheba (which means 'well of the oath'), because that was where they had sworn the oath.
32
After making their covenant at Beersheba, Abimelech left with Phicol, the commander of his army, and they returned home to the land of the Philistines.
33
Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba, and there he worshiped the
Lord
, the Eternal God.
