Genesis 2:4-8
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 2
4
This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the
Lord
God made earth and heaven.
5
Now no shrub of the field was yet on the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the
Lord
God had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.
6
But a mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole surface of the ground.
7
Then the
Lord
God formed the man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living person.
8
The
Lord
God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed.
King James Version
Chapter 2
4
These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the
Lord
God made the earth and the heavens,
5
And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the
Lord
God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6
But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
7
And the
Lord
God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8
And the
Lord
God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 2
4
These are the records of the heavens and the earth, concerning their creation. At the time that the
Lord
God made the earth and the heavens,
5
no shrub of the field had yet grown on the land, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the
Lord
God had not made it rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground.
6
But mist would come up from the earth and water all the ground.
7
Then the
Lord
God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.
8
The
Lord
God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he placed the man he had formed.
New Living Translation
Chapter 2
4
This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth. When the
Lord
God made the earth and the heavens,
5
neither wild plants nor grains were growing on the earth. For the
Lord
God had not yet sent rain to water the earth, and there were no people to cultivate the soil.
6
Instead, springs came up from the ground and watered all the land.
7
Then the
Lord
God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.
8
Then the
Lord
God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made.
English Standard Version
Chapter 2
4
These are the generations
of the heavens and the earth when they were created,
in the day that the
Lord
God made the earth and the heavens.
5
When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up — for the
Lord
God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground,
6
and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground —
7
then the
Lord
God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
8
And the
Lord
God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
New International Version
