Exodus 16:31-34
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 16
31
And the house of Israel named
the bread
manna, and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like wafers with honey.
32
Then Moses said, 'This is what the
Lord
has commanded: ‘A full omer of it is to be kept safe throughout your generations, so that they may see the bread that I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’?'
33
And Moses said to Aaron, 'Take a jar and put a full omer of manna in it, and place it before the
Lord
to be kept safe throughout your generations.'
34
As the
Lord
commanded Moses, so Aaron placed it before the Testimony, to be kept.
King James Version
Chapter 16
31
And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
32
And Moses said, This is the thing which the
Lord
commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
33
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the
Lord
, to be kept for your generations.
34
As the
Lord
commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 16
31
The house of Israel named the substance manna. It resembled coriander seed, was white, and tasted like wafers made with honey.
32
Moses said, "This is what the
Lord
has commanded: ‘Two quarts of it are to be preserved throughout your generations, so that they may see the bread I fed you in the wilderness when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’"
33
Moses told Aaron, "Take a container and put two quarts of manna in it. Then place it before the
Lord
to be preserved throughout your generations."
34
As the
Lord
commanded Moses, Aaron placed it before the testimony to be preserved.
New Living Translation
Chapter 16
31
The Israelites called the food manna. It was white like coriander seed, and it tasted like honey wafers.
32
Then Moses said, 'This is what the
Lord
has commanded: Fill a two-quart container with manna to preserve it for your descendants. Then later generations will be able to see the food I gave you in the wilderness when I set you free from Egypt.'
33
Moses said to Aaron, 'Get a jar and fill it with two quarts of manna. Then put it in a sacred place before the
Lord
to preserve it for all future generations.'
34
Aaron did just as the
Lord
had commanded Moses. He eventually placed it in the Ark of the Covenant — in front of the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant.
English Standard Version
