Daniel 8:12-16
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 8
12
And because of an offense the army will be given
to the horn
along with the regular sacrifice; and it will hurl truth to the ground and do
as it pleases
and be successful.
13
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that particular one who was speaking, 'How long will the vision
about
the regular sacrifice
apply,
while the offense causes horror, so as to allow both the sanctuary and the army to be trampled?'
14
And he said to me, 'For 2,300 evenings
and
mornings; then the sanctuary will be properly restored.'
15
When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it; and behold, standing before me was one who looked like a man.
16
And I heard the voice of a man between
the banks of
Ulai, and he called out and said, 'Gabriel, explain the vision to this
man.
'
King James Version
Chapter 8
12
And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.
13
Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
14
And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
15
And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
16
And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 8
12
In the rebellion, the army was given up, together with the regular sacrifice. The horn threw truth to the ground and was successful in what it did.
13
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the speaker, "How long will the events of this vision last —the regular sacrifice, the rebellion that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and of the army to be trampled?"
14
He said to me, "For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be restored."
15
While I, Daniel, was watching the vision and trying to understand it, there stood before me someone who appeared to be a man.
16
I heard a human voice calling from the middle of the Ulai: "Gabriel, explain the vision to this man."
New Living Translation
Chapter 8
12
The army of heaven was restrained from responding to this rebellion. So the daily sacrifice was halted, and truth was overthrown. The horn succeeded in everything it did.
13
Then I heard two holy ones talking to each other. One of them asked, 'How long will the events of this vision last? How long will the rebellion that causes desecration stop the daily sacrifices? How long will the Temple and heaven’s army be trampled on?'
14
The other replied, 'It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the Temple will be made right again.'
15
As I, Daniel, was trying to understand the meaning of this vision, someone who looked like a man stood in front of me.
16
And I heard a human voice calling out from the Ulai River, 'Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of his vision.'
English Standard Version
Chapter 8
12
And a host will be given over to it together with the regular burnt offering because of transgression, and it will throw truth to the ground, and it will act and prosper.
13
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one who spoke, "For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled underfoot?"
14
And he said to me, "For 2,300 evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state."
15
When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it. And behold, there stood before me one having the appearance of a man.
16
And I heard a man 's voice between the banks of the Ulai, and it called, "Gabriel, make this man understand the vision."
New International Version
Chapter 8
12
Because of rebellion, the
Lord
’s people and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.
13
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, "How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled—the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the
Lord
’s people?"
14
He said to me, "It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated."
15
While I, Daniel, was watching the vision and trying to understand it, there before me stood one who looked like a man.
16
And I heard a man’s voice from the Ulai calling, "Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of the vision."
New King James Version
Chapter 8
12
Because of transgression, an army was given over
to the horn
to oppose the daily
sacrifices;
and he cast truth down to the ground. He did
all this
and prospered.
13
Then I heard a holy one speaking; and
another
holy one said to that certain
one
who was speaking, “How long
will
the vision
be, concerning
the daily
sacrifices
and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?”
14
And he said to me, “For two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”
15
Then it happened, when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and was seeking the meaning, that suddenly there stood before me one having the appearance of a man.
16
And I heard a man’s voice between
the banks of
the Ulai, who called, and said, “Gabriel, make this
man
understand the vision.”
