Chapter 7

53 you who received the Law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it.'
54 Now when they heard this, they were infuriated, and they began gnashing their teeth at him. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; 56 and he said, 'Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.' 57 But they shouted with loud voices, and covered their ears and rushed at him with one mind. 58 When they had driven him out of the city, they began stoning him; and the witnesses laid aside their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!' 60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out with a loud voice, 'Lord, do not hold this sin against them!' Having said this, he fell asleep.

And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

57 They yelled at the top of their voices, covered their ears, and together rushed against him. 58 They dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. And the witnesses laid their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 While they were stoning Stephen, he called out, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit! " 60 He knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them! " And after saying this, he fell asleep.

53 You deliberately disobeyed God's law, even though you received it from the hands of angels.'
54 The Jewish leaders were infuriated by Stephen's accusation, and they shook their fists at him in rage. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God's right hand. 56 And he told them, 'Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God's right hand!'
57 Then they put their hands over their ears and began shouting. They rushed at him 58 and dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.' 60 He fell to his knees, shouting, 'Lord, don't charge them with this sin!' And with that, he died.
