Acts 10:17-24
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 10
17
Now while Peter was greatly perplexed in mind as to what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who had been sent by Cornelius had asked directions to Simon’s house, and they appeared at the gate;
18
and calling out, they were asking whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was staying there.
19
While Peter was reflecting on the vision, the Spirit said to him, 'Behold, three men are looking for you.
20
But get up, go downstairs and accompany them without misgivings, for I have sent them Myself.'
21
Peter went down to the men and said, 'Behold, I am the one you are looking for; what is the reason for which you have come?'
22
They said, 'Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man well spoken of by the entire nation of the Jews, was
divinely
directed by a holy angel to send for you
to come
to his house and hear a message from you.'
23
So he invited them in and gave them lodging. Now on the next day he got ready and went away with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
24
On the following day he entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
King James Version
Chapter 10
17
Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,
18
And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
19
While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20
Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.
21
Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
22
And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.
23
Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
24
And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

Chapter 10
17
While Peter was deeply perplexed about what the vision he had seen might mean, right away the men who had been sent by Cornelius, having asked directions to Simon’s house, stood at the gate.
18
They called out, asking if Simon, who was also named Peter, was lodging there.
19
While Peter was thinking about the vision, the Spirit told him, "Three men are here looking for you.
20
Get up, go downstairs, and go with them with no doubts at all, because I have sent them."
21
Then Peter went down to the men and said, "Here I am, the one you’re looking for. What is the reason you’re here?"
22
They said, "Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who has a good reputation with the whole Jewish nation, was divinely directed by a holy angel to call you to his house and to hear a message from you."
23
Peter then invited them in and gave them lodging. The next day he got up and set out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went with him.
24
The following day he entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
New Living Translation
Chapter 10
17
Peter was very perplexed. What could the vision mean? Just then the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house. Standing outside the gate,
18
they asked if a man named Simon Peter was staying there.
19
Meanwhile, as Peter was puzzling over the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him, 'Three men have come looking for you.
20
Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Don’t worry, for I have sent them.'
21
So Peter went down and said, 'I’m the man you are looking for. Why have you come?'
22
They said, 'We were sent by Cornelius, a Roman officer. He is a devout and God-fearing man, well respected by all the Jews. A holy angel instructed him to summon you to his house so that he can hear your message.'
23
So Peter invited the men to stay for the night. The next day he went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from Joppa.
24
They arrived in Caesarea the following day. Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

Peter went down and said to the men, "I’m the one you’re looking for. Why have you come?"
