Chapter 11
37However I will take you, and you shall reign over all that you desire, and you shall be king over Israel. 38Then it shall be, that if you listen to all that I command you and walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight by keeping My statutes and My commandments, as My servant David did, then I will be with you and build you an enduring house as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you. 39So I will oppress the descendants of David for this, but not always.’?' 40Solomon sought therefore to put Jeroboam to death; but Jeroboam set out and fled to Egypt to Shishak king of Egypt, and he was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
41Now the rest of the acts of Solomon and whatever he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the Book of the Acts of Solomon?
42So the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
43Then Solomon lay down with his fathers and was buried in the city of his father David, and his son Rehoboam reigned in his place.

39I will humble David's descendants, because of their unfaithfulness, but not forever.' "

42The length of Solomon's reign in Jerusalem over all Israel totaled forty years.
43Solomon rested with his ancestors and was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam became king in his place.

37And I will place you on the throne of Israel, and you will rule over all that your heart desires. 38If you listen to what I tell you and follow my ways and do whatever I consider to be right, and if you obey my decrees and commands, as my servant David did, then I will always be with you. I will establish an enduring dynasty for you as I did for David, and I will give Israel to you. 39Because of Solomon’s sin I will punish the descendants of David — though not forever.’'

42Solomon ruled in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.
43When he died, he was buried in the City of David, named for his father. Then his son Rehoboam became the next king.
