1 Corinthians 10:23-28
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 10
23All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things build people up. 24No one is to seek his own advantage, but rather that of his neighbor. 25Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions, for the sake of conscience; 26FOR THE EARTH IS THE Lord’S, AND ALL IT CONTAINS. 27If one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, eat anything that is set before you without asking questions, for the sake of conscience. 28But if anyone says to you, 'This is meat sacrificed to idols,' do not eat it, for the sake of that one who informed you and for the sake of conscience;King James Version
Chapter 10
23All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. 24Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. 25Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: 26For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. 27If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. 28But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 10
23"Everything is permissible," but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible," but not everything builds up. 24No one is to seek his own good, but the good of the other person.
25Eat everything that is sold in the meat market, without raising questions for the sake of conscience,
26since the earth is the Lord's, and all that is in it.
27If any of the unbelievers invites you over and you want to go, eat everything that is set before you, without raising questions for the sake of conscience.
28But if someone says to you, "This is food from a sacrifice," do not eat it, out of consideration for the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience.
New Living Translation
Chapter 10
23You say, 'I am allowed to do anything' — but not everything is good for you. You say, 'I am allowed to do anything' — but not everything is beneficial. 24Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others.
25So you may eat any meat that is sold in the marketplace without raising questions of conscience.
26For 'the earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.'
27If someone who isn’t a believer asks you home for dinner, accept the invitation if you want to. Eat whatever is offered to you without raising questions of conscience.
28(But suppose someone tells you, 'This meat was offered to an idol.' Don’t eat it, out of consideration for the conscience of the one who told you.
