Chapter 15

3For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written: 'THE TAUNTS OF THOSE WHO TAUNT YOU HAVE FALLEN ON ME.' 4For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

3For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 4For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

3For even Christ did not please himself. On the contrary, as it is written, The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. 4For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures.

3For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. As the Scriptures say, 'The insults of those who insult you, O God, have fallen on me.' 4Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
