Matthew 5:27-29
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 5
27
You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’;
28
but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29
Now if your right eye is causing you to sin, tear it out and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your
body,
than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
King James Version
Chapter 5
27
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 5
27
"You have heard that it was said,
Do not commit adultery.
28
But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29
If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
New Living Translation
Chapter 5
27
You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’
28
But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29
So if your eye — even your good eye — causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
English Standard Version
Chapter 5
27
"You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
28
But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.
New International Version
Chapter 5
27
"You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
28
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29
If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
New King James Version
Chapter 5
27
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
28
But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29
If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast
it
from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
