Matthew 26:30-37
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 26
30
And after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31
Then Jesus *said to them, 'You will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I WILL STRIKE THE SHEPHERD, AND THE SHEEP OF THE FLOCK WILL BE SCATTERED.’
32
But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.'
33
But Peter replied to Him, '
Even
if they all fall away because of You, I will never fall away!'
34
Jesus said to him, 'Truly I say to you that this
very
night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.'
35
Peter *said to Him, 'Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!' All the disciples said the same thing as well.
36
Then Jesus *came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and *told His disciples, 'Sit here while I go over there and pray.'
37
And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be grieved and distressed.
King James Version
Chapter 26
30
And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
31
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
32
But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
33
Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
34
Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35
Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
36
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37
And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 26
30
After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31
Then Jesus said to them, "Tonight all of you will fall away because of me, for it is written:
I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.
32
But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you to Galilee."
33
Peter told him, "Even if everyone falls away because of you, I will never fall away."
34
"Truly I tell you," Jesus said to him, "tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."
35
"Even if I have to die with you," Peter told him, "I will never deny you," and all the disciples said the same thing.
36
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he told the disciples, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."
37
Taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
New Living Translation
Chapter 26
30
Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
31
On the way, Jesus told them, 'Tonight all of you will desert me. For the Scriptures say,
‘God will strike the Shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
32
But after I have been raised from the dead, I will go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there.'
33
Peter declared, 'Even if everyone else deserts you, I will never desert you.'
34
Jesus replied, 'I tell you the truth, Peter — this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.'
35
No!' Peter insisted. 'Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!' And all the other disciples vowed the same.
36
Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, 'Sit here while I go over there to pray.'
37
He took Peter and Zebedee’s two sons, James and John, and he became anguished and distressed.
