Chapter 13
3And He told them many things in parables, saying, 'Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and they sprang up immediately, because they had no depth of soil. 6But after the sun rose, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. 8But others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times as much. 9The one who has ears, let him hear.'
10And the disciples came up and said to Him, 'Why do You speak to them in parables?'
11And Jesus answered them, 'To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.
12For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.
13Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

3Then he told them many things in parables, saying, "Consider the sower who went out to sow. 4As he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. 5Other seed fell on rocky ground where it didn't have much soil, and it grew up quickly since the soil wasn't deep. 6But when the sun came up, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. 7Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it. 8Still other seed fell on good ground and produced fruit: some a hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times what was sown. 9Let anyone who has ears listen."
11He answered, "Because the secrets of the kingdom of heaven have been given for you to know, but it has not been given to them.
12For whoever has, more will be given to him, and he will have more than enough; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
13That is why I speak to them in parables, because looking they do not see, and hearing they do not listen or understand.
14Isaiah's prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says:You will listen and listen,but never understand;you will look and look,but never perceive.
15For this people's heart has grown callous;their ears are hard of hearing,and they have shut their eyes;otherwise they might see with their eyes,and hear with their ears, andunderstand with their hearts,and turn back --and I would heal them.

Chapter 13
3He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one: 'Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. 4As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. 5Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. 6But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. 7Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. 8Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! 9Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.'
11He replied, 'You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not.
12To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.
14This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says, ‘When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend.
15For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes — so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’

11He replied, 'Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.
12Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
14In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: ''You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
