Judges 11:35-36
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 11
35
So when he saw her, he tore his clothes and said, 'Oh, my daughter! You have brought me disaster, and you are among those who trouble me; for I have given my word to the
Lord
, and I cannot take
it
back.'
36
So she said to him, 'My father, you have given your word to the
Lord
; do to me just as you have said, since the
Lord
has brought you vengeance on your enemies, the sons of Ammon.'
King James Version
Chapter 11
35
And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the
Lord
, and I cannot go back.
36
And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the
Lord
, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the
Lord
hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 11
35
When he saw her, he tore his clothes and said, "No! Not my daughter! You have devastated me! You have brought great misery on me. I have given my word to the
Lord
and cannot take it back."
36
Then she said to him, "My father, you have given your word to the
Lord
. Do to me as you have said, for the
Lord
brought vengeance on your enemies, the Ammonites."
New Living Translation
Chapter 11
35
When he saw her, he tore his clothes in anguish. 'Oh, my daughter!' he cried out. 'You have completely destroyed me! You’ve brought disaster on me! For I have made a vow to the
Lord
, and I cannot take it back.'
36
And she said, 'Father, if you have made a vow to the
Lord
, you must do to me what you have vowed, for the
Lord
has given you a great victory over your enemies, the Ammonites.
English Standard Version
Chapter 11

Lord
, and I cannot take back my vow."
36
And she said to him, "My father, you have opened your mouth to the
Lord
; do to me according to what has gone out of your mouth, now that the
Lord
has avenged you on your enemies, on the Ammonites."
New International Version

35
When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried, "Oh no, my daughter! You have brought me down and I am devastated. I have made a vow to the
Lord
that I cannot break."
36
"My father," she replied, "you have given your word to the
Lord
. Do to me just as you promised, now that the
Lord
has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites.
New King James Version

And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low! You are among those who trouble me! For I have given my word to the

36
So she said to him, “My father,
if

, do to me according to what has gone out of your mouth, because the
