And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, 'The
Lord
is witness between us; be assured we will do as you have said.'

Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and leader over them; and Jephthah spoke all his words before the
Lord
at Mizpah.

be witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words.

is our witness if we don’t do as you say."

So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead. The people made him their leader and commander, and Jephthah repeated all his terms in the presence of the
Lord
at Mizpah.

is our witness,' the elders replied. 'We promise to do whatever you say.'

So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him their ruler and commander of the army. At Mizpah, in the presence of the
