King James Version
7Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Christian Standard Bible
7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:Today, if you hear his voice,
8do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,on the day of testing in the wilderness,
9where your ancestors tested me, tried me,and saw my works
10for forty years. Therefore I was provoked to anger with that generationand said, "They always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways."
New Living Translation
7That is why the Holy Spirit says, 'Today when you hear his voice,
8don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness.
9There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years.
10So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’
English Standard Version
New International Version
7So, as the Holy Spirit says: 'Today, if you hear his voice,
8do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness,
9where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did.
10That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.'
New King James Version
7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice,
8Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,
9Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.
10Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’
