Hebrews 3:13-19
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
13But encourage one another every day, as long as it is still called 'today,' so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ if we keep the beginning of our commitment firm until the end,
16For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?
17And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness?
18And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?
19And so we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
King James Version
Chapter 3
13But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? 18And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 3
13But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin's deception. 14For we have become participants in Christ if we hold firmly until the end the reality that we had at the start.
16For who heard and rebelled? Wasn't it all who came out of Egypt under Moses?
17With whom was God angry for forty years? Wasn't it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
18And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who disobeyed?
19So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
New Living Translation
Chapter 3
13You must warn each other every day, while it is still 'today,' so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. 14For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.
16And who was it who rebelled against God, even though they heard his voice? Wasn’t it the people Moses led out of Egypt?
17And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness?
18And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him?
19So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.
English Standard Version
Chapter 3
13But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. 15As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
16For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses?
17And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
18And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?
19So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
New International Version
Chapter 3
13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called 'Today,' so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
16Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?
17And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?
18And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed?
19So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.
New King James Version
Chapter 3
13but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,
16For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?
17Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness?
18And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?
19So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
