Genesis 9:8-21
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 9
8
Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,
9
Now behold, I Myself am establishing My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you;
10
and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the livestock, and every animal of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, every animal of the earth.
11
I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be eliminated by the waters of a flood, nor shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.'
12
God said, 'This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations;
13
I have set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall serve as a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.
14
It shall come about, when I make a cloud appear over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud,
15
and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16
When the rainbow is in the cloud, then I will look at it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.'
17
And God said to Noah, 'This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.'
18
Now the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and Ham was the father of Canaan.
19
These three
were
the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.
20
Then Noah began farming and planted a vineyard.
21
He drank some of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent.
King James Version
Chapter 9
8
And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
9
And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
10
And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11
And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12
And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14
And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16
And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17
And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
18
And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.
19
These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.
20
And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21
And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

Chapter 9
8
Then God said to Noah and his sons with him,
9
"Understand that I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you,
10
and with every living creature that is with you—birds, livestock, and all wildlife of the earth that are with you—all the animals of the earth that came out of the ark.
11
I establish my covenant with you that never again will every creature be wiped out by floodwaters; there will never again be a flood to destroy the earth."
12
And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all future generations:
13
I have placed my bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
14
Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,
15
I will remember my covenant between me and you and all the living creatures: water will never again become a flood to destroy every creature.
16
The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the permanent covenant between God and all the living creatures on earth."
17
God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and every creature on earth."
18
Noah’s sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.
19
These three were Noah’s sons, and from them the whole earth was populated.
20
Noah, as a man of the soil, began by planting a vineyard.
21
He drank some of the wine, became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent.
New Living Translation
Chapter 9
8
Then God told Noah and his sons,
9
I hereby confirm my covenant with you and your descendants,
10
and with all the animals that were on the boat with you — the birds, the livestock, and all the wild animals — every living creature on earth.
11
Yes, I am confirming my covenant with you. Never again will floodwaters kill all living creatures; never again will a flood destroy the earth.'
12
Then God said, 'I am giving you a sign of my covenant with you and with all living creatures, for all generations to come.
13
I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth.
14
When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds,
15
and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life.
16
When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth.'
17
Then God said to Noah, 'Yes, this rainbow is the sign of the covenant I am confirming with all the creatures on earth.'
18
The sons of Noah who came out of the boat with their father were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham is the father of Canaan.)
19
From these three sons of Noah came all the people who now populate the earth.
20
After the flood, Noah began to cultivate the ground, and he planted a vineyard.
21
One day he drank some wine he had made, and he became drunk and lay naked inside his tent.

"Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you,
10
and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth.
11
I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth."
12
And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:
13
I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

18
The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.)
19
These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the people of the whole earth were dispersed.
20
Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard.
21
He drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent.

9
"I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you
10
and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth.
11
I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth."
12
And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:
13
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
14
Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,
15
I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
16
Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."
17
So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth."
18
The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.)
19
These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.
20
Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard.
21
When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent.
