Genesis 6:5-8
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 6
5
Then the
Lord
saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually.
6
So the
Lord
was sorry that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
7
Then the
Lord
said, 'I will wipe out mankind whom I have created from the face of the land; mankind, and animals as well, and crawling things, and the birds of the sky. For I am sorry that I have made them.'
8
But Noah found favor in the eyes of the
Lord
.
King James Version
Chapter 6
5
And
God
saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6
And it repented the
Lord
that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7
And the
Lord
said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the
Lord
.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 6
5
When the
Lord
saw that human wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every inclination of the human mind was nothing but evil all the time,
6
the
Lord
regretted that he had made man on the earth, and he was deeply grieved.
7
Then the
Lord
said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I created, off the face of the earth, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky—for I regret that I made them."
8
Noah, however, found favor with the
Lord
.
New Living Translation
Chapter 6
5
The
Lord
observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.
6
So the
Lord
was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.
7
And the
Lord
said, 'I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing — all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.'
8
But Noah found favor with the
Lord
.
