Chapter 49

11He ties his foal to the vine, And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine; He washes his garments in wine, And his robes in the blood of grapes. 12His eyes are dull from wine, And his teeth white from milk. 13'Zebulun will reside at the seashore; And he shall be a harbor for ships, And his flank shall be toward Sidon. 14'Issachar is a strong donkey, Lying down between the sheepfolds. 15When he saw that a resting place was good And that the land was pleasant, He bowed his shoulder to carry burdens, And became a slave at forced labor. 16'Dan shall judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel. 17Dan shall be a serpent in the way, A horned viper in the path, That bites the horse’s heels, So that its rider falls backward. 18For Your salvation I wait, Lord. 19'As for Gad, a band of raiders shall attack him, But he will attack at their heels. 20'As for Asher, his food shall be rich, And he will yield royal delicacies. 21'Naphtali is a doe let loose; He utters beautiful words. 22'Joseph is a fruitful branch, A fruitful branch by a spring; Its branches hang over a wall. 23The archers provoked him, And shot at him and were hostile toward him;

Chapter 49

11Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
13Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
14Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
16Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
18I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord.
19Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
20Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
21Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
22Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
23The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

15He saw that his resting place was good and that the land was pleasant, so he leaned his shoulder to bear a load and became a forced laborer. 16Dan will judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel.
17Dan will be a snake by the road, a viper beside the path, that bites the horses’ heels so that its rider falls backward.
18I wait for your salvation, Lord.
19Gad will be attacked by raiders, but he will attack their heels.
20Asher’s food will be rich, and he will produce royal delicacies.
21Naphtali is a doe set free that bears beautiful fawns. 22Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine beside a spring; its branches climb over the wall. 23The archers attacked him, shot at him, and were hostile toward him.

Chapter 49

11He ties his foal to a grapevine, the colt of his donkey to a choice vine. He washes his clothes in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes. 12His eyes are darker than wine, and his teeth are whiter than milk.
13'Zebulun will settle by the seashore and will be a harbor for ships; his borders will extend to Sidon.
14'Issachar is a sturdy donkey, resting between two saddlepacks. 15When he sees how good the countryside is and how pleasant the land, he will bend his shoulder to the load and submit himself to hard labor.
16'Dan will govern his people, like any other tribe in Israel. 17Dan will be a snake beside the road, a poisonous viper along the path that bites the horse’s hooves so its rider is thrown off. 18I trust in you for salvation, O Lord!
19'Gad will be attacked by marauding bands, but he will attack them when they retreat.
20'Asher will dine on rich foods and produce food fit for kings.
21'Naphtali is a doe set free that bears beautiful fawns.
22'Joseph is the foal of a wild donkey, the foal of a wild donkey at a spring — one of the wild donkeys on the ridge. 23Archers attacked him savagely; they shot at him and harassed him.
